Working life is the adult’s school. It is a time when what one has learnt has to be applied and when one has to be always prepared, through continuous learning, to be able to take on new tasks and responsibilities that critically matter to the bottom-line(s) of an organisation. It is also a time to un-learn and re-learn. It is a time to innovate, grow personally and professionally and build an active, rewarding career.

Such an important period cannot be done without the help of others and particularly learning from them. And the key to learning to be ready for the present and for new tasks and responsibilities in the future in any organisation is that group of people we call “trainers”.

Trainers Meet Trainers (TMT)® is a celebration of the Trainer. It is an active recognition of trainers by way of offering them a platform where they can engage with passionate adult learners. TMT will aim at addressing key concerns and needs of the trainers’ community: (i) trends in learning and development (ii) tools for practitioners, (iii) impact of learning and development on organisations and (iv) growth opportunities for trainers.

All these will be achieved through involved and active sharing of observations and knowledge on local and global HRD learning and development trends, in addition to ideas and tools for enhancing the competence and preparedness of the workforce in any organisation. TMT® aims at inspiring learning among members of the trainers’ community.

Trends offer insight on general and specific changes in the social, economic, and technological areas that may affect peoples’ overall performance. These therefore need trainers to be sensitive to trends and to be prepared to engage with such trends that may affect the bottom-line(s) of organisations. While training situation in any organisation may be routinised, there are many times when ideas are required not only on training needs but also on how to get training lessons, tools and techniques into organisational productivity-enhancing practice. And lastly, trainers will need new tools and techniques to engage learners and deliver content that is exciting, meaningful and relevant for personal, professional and organisational development.
